Run around the quest area and click on sparkling piles of sand. You loot [item=188738]s which aren't objects, but icons with a yellow symbol. Nearby mobs will attack you while you unearth an artifact, so use any stuns you have.
Edit: Provis Strata is a circle defined by the main road. The quest area includes the top right quarter of the circle. The area between 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock is a safer area to farm. Stone pillars form the top edge of the space and there are few mobs. There are a number of unguarded sand piles. Beware of wasps as you move toward 2 o'clock. I also found two sand piles on the raised platform near [npc=184409]'s spawn point (48, 45).
As a Druid, with flight, you can use travel form and not have to fight any mobs.

Description
Much has been lost to the invading forces, those that came with destruction in their hearts. We cannot preserve this land as the First Ones intended if the Mawsworn are allowed to pulverize all remnants of their knowledge. See what you can recover from the sands of Provis Strata.
