Little tip. If you target something else close by immediately after you have right clicked to "gather research" The debuff goes on the critter your targeting not the elemental. So you can actually spam one to get all 12 done in one trap.

Works best if its a Raptora that is vertical from you, such that you will agro it if you fly but don't if your on ground. I usually do this around the pools (60,72).

Might even try an interact with target mouseover macro.

If you are on the quest chain "Reap what you Sow" [storyline=1290 domain=www]

Its possible for Gaiagantic to not appear, because of phasing.

So either finish the quest chain, or /target gaiagantic and range pull him before he phases.

Drop the [item=187684] in front of a [npc=180930].
Once the trap is active, click on the [npc=179007] to get x/12 Geomental Examined ("Research Data Aquired").
He will remain trapped for about 20 seconds.
While he is trapped, other players can get credit for research data.
You can kill it while it is trapped after you collect your data.
Once he becomes untrapped he will aggro on you.
You can use the trap on him again if you want to, but you can't collect anymore data.
You may as well kill the mob and loot the corpse because you can't use him again for more data.
If you try, you will get message "No new data aquired".
If you have mining, mine the corpse for a small chance to get Progenium Ore.
If another player is fighting a Forgotten Geomental, you can trap it and collect the data.
Do the same thing for [npc=181223] anytime while you get 12/12 Geomental Examined.
After you collect his data, you can run away or kill him.
You can use the trap on him multiple times if you want.
