1) Don't skin the Basilisks you kill.
2) Loot the dead Basilisks fast, because your chompy companion eats them up quickly.
WARNING: Do not delete the egg fragment after this quest!
It looks like another obsolete quest item that gets left in your bag after the quest is finished, but it actually leads to a hidden quest line that is necessary for the N STV quest achievement.
If lost, it cannot be recovered. I can't even get GMs to get me a new one.

Description
It looks like your young raptor is hungry. If you're looking to keep her, why don't you find something for her to eat? The lashtail often attack the basilisks of Stranglethorn, which can be found to the east, beyond Kurzen's Compound. She probably isn't strong enough to hunt on her own yet, but I'm sure she will eat freshly killed basilisk meat.
