In Bloom

In Bloom is a quest for level 30-35 in Mount Hyjal. It is step 91 of 118 in the Mount Hyjal storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Mount Hyjal at 76.9, 62.1. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 4,800 experience and money.

Description

It is customary for new recruits to be sent on a difficult or sometimes impossible task. I was sent to obtain a black dragon's scale; last year's instructors demanded a feather from a phoenix.

Your lot has it relatively easy. Find me a handful of flame blossoms.

They grow around here in relative abundance. Oh, right. There will be a gigantic core hound roaming the fields to keep things interesting. Do your best to avoid him.

The quest text is a reference to how bad drop rates were "back in the day." Black dragon scales were mats for crafted Molten Core hunter gear (among other things). Pretty poor drop rates. I'm thinking the phoenix feather is a reference to the Ashes of Al'ar.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Trial By FireMount Hyjal · Level 30-35

I'd love to say that with the tides turning against us in Hyjal, every recruit helps our cause and so on... but to be perfectly blunt, most of you are nothing but a burden. If I had a copper for every peasant who got too scared when the cataclysm hit and now wishes to join our side...

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Waste of FleshMount Hyjal · Level 30-35

Look at these fools. Half of them won't even make it past this trial. They are not worthy of ascending into our inner circles. But perhaps... perhaps they are worthy of menial service. Take this gem and utilize its power to save some of the less competent supplicants.
