The Maiden isn't where she is supposed to be, and you can't go back to Valdrakken to complete this quest
Dropped quest, reaccepted, Maiden was there, as soon as the dragon dies she disappears, tried reload as well
After dropping and reaccepting the quest, made sure to stand right by maiden and right click ASAP after proto dies

From messing around with it it seems you need to talk to her and click the "I'm ready to begin" button before attacking the mobs and then she won't despawn. If you tag someone else mobs she despawns very quickly.
Exactlty this^ went back, dropped the quest made sure to talk to her before fighting and got the quest done.
