Contrary to popular belief, it seems that gnomes does indeed have souls. How peculiar.

Location all around 65.23. What you do is just kill Fizzcrank mechagnom and then you use The Greatmother's Soulcatcher on corps. They are not many of them and surrounded by their robots so it may take time to finished quest.
Engineers don't forget to take your tools. If you are engineer you can loot different engineering parts from robot corps, which you may find useful later on.
For those of you who are engineers remember to left click to get the soul. if you right click and salvage parts from them you wont be able to get the soul as well.

What to do
Description
The mechagnomes in the pools to the west are a great mystery to us. They appeared not long after the gnomes disappeared from their pumping station and its environs. They are an unnatural danger and must be dealt with. Take this soulcatcher and use it on the remains of the mechagnomes to capture their souls. When you return, we will set them free so that we might find out what happened.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Weakness to Lightning
You now have the power of the storm within you. I will give you the means to focus that power and weaken the robots in the pools. Take this lightning rod. Use it against the robotic creations of the mechagnomes you find within the greater pools area to the west.

- Cleaning Up the Pools
<A single tear rolls down the face of Iron Eyes.> I have heard that you are heading back into the pools to the west. I have something for you to do while you are out there, <race>. The gnomes, who care nothing for the land, have polluted it with their machinery.
