Take the boat from Stormwind Harbor to Borean Tundra, then take the FP to Fizzcrank Airstrip. Cog Captain WIndlespring is at the end of the runway. It is probably faster to take the boat then to take that portals and fly from Crystalsong Forest.

While the next quest appears on the gnome next to the turn in gnome, that is not entirely intuitive that it is the next in line. I was not paying attention and thought it was an existing quest on the other gnome that I simply did not see. This led me to glance at my quest log which showed a Legion Hall quest and I thought that was the next step. What a long trip back!

Description
While you were in Gnomeregan, we received a distress signal from Fizzcrank Airstrip in Borean Tundra. This seems like the perfect opportunity to show off what G.E.A.R. can do! I've sent the rest of your squad ahead. Meet them out there.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Shadowed Halls and Dusty Cogs
An elite aerial unit wouldn't be complete without the newest innovations in flying machine technology. There's just one small problem. The innovative new engine we built was left behind when we evacuated Gnomeregan. We need that prototype if we want these bombers to safely get off the ground!
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Now With More Mechanical Fowl
The gnomes here report that troggs came down from the north and started attacking everygnome and everything. So now it's our job to fix this situation! And luckily, I have the perfect plan for it.
