You don't need to kill the dogs - if you only kill the hunter, they'll run away to safety :)
As I went through the dialogue, the dogs started growling and then Lyana disappears. I then kill the hunter, but Lyana is no where around and no "!" on my mini-map or main map. I looked around in an expanding spiral like maybe she was stealthed. Ended up back up the hill and she's on her bat. Just in case anyone else had trouble finding her again.

Description
Look there, down the hill. One of the Alliance hunters that roam the area. No one knows these pathways like them. If our quarry passed through here, that hunter would certainly have seen the tracks. His dogs may even have caught Saurfang's scent. Here is another dose of the potion. Let us question this one while he is alone.
