Since it has been requested I will repost it(the following is verbatim): "Question: How many rogues does it take to gank a pally? Answer: Two. One to attack him and another to wait for him at the inn."

Pre-4.0, on the original divine shield comments page, I had a comment. It was a joke, a good one, since it was uprated to like 85 before 4.0 came out. Then the patch came, wowhead did its datamining, deleting that version and reverting to this one.
Now my joke doesn't even apply. It was a bubble hearthing one. I wanted to retell it, since the entire entry for that version of divine shield was deleted, including the comments. There's really no point though, since like I said, the joke applied to bubble hearthing...
Blizzard managed, somehow, to even nerf my joke. That sucks, man...
I'm a little paladin, short and stout.
Here is my hammer, here is my mount.
When I get in combat, I run out.
Pop up my bubble, and hearthstone out.

8 second duration. Goodbye bubble-hearth </3
This spell actually makes you immune from the Trespasser! buff which teleports you out of your opposing faction's quarters in Dalaran, thus enabling you to walk straight pass their guards.
While I don't know about Alliance, once inside, Horde players can stay anywhere in "A Heroe's Welcome" without being kicked out, even after the shield fades.
All this is also true for Hand of Protection. Bring your friends and family!
If you do archaeology, there is a new way to 'bubble hearth' while in Divine Shield! 5 second cast item will teleport you someplace random, which is just fine with me since when I bubble hearth I want to be 'anywhere but here'. Not quite the same as hearthing, but useful nontheless.
There remains a way to Bubble-Hearth : collect 4 pieces of the tier 7 Protection set. This magnific set bonus keeps the magnificent tactic alive!
And you can do it for the convenient price of 1.975 Justice Points, see your habitual vendors at Dalaran!
I don't see it mentioned on this page, but "bubblehearth" is now baked into the spell. It halves the cast time of hearthstone whenever you are shielded, which even counting for global cooldown is much faster than hearthing normally.
Edit: Things which specifically replace the hearthstone, including cd reduction from guild perk, count as a hearthstone for this effect.
Unless, of course, you want to be awesome.
Here is a macro useful for canceling Divine Shield when you no longer desire it to be up and don't want to go chasing your buffs to click it off.
#showtooltip Divine Shield
/stopcasting
/cancelaura Divine Shield
/cast Divine ShieldClicking it once will cast Divine Shield, while clicking it a second time will remove Divine Shield from you.
Edit: Added /stopcasting because an "oh !@#$" button is a bit useless if you die because you "can't do that while casting".
Not anymore, we don't :(
Yes. Interrupts will prevent Divine Shield from being used for the duration of the lockout. EDIT: Notably though, Silence effects (like Strangulate) won't prevent you from using Divine Shield. E.G. if a Death Knight uses Mind Freeze on your Flash of Light, you won't be able to use Divine Shield shortly after. If a Death Knight uses Strangulate on you, you WILL be able to use Divine Shield.
No bubble-heart = no reason to ever roll a paladin ;(
Getting a new icon in 4.2
R.I.P. Warcraft 3 Divine Shield Icon :(
i'm curious...what whas the joke?
Actually the GCD is 1.5 seconds, so you would want a 6.5 second HS. On a more serious note, CURSE YOU BLIZZARD! Edit: Changed 1 second to 1.5 seconds. ty Svid
wtb 8 second cast HS
It seems that our beloved Bubblehearth IS BACK! In Mists of pandaria a paladin glyph has been added! "Glyph of righteous retreat" ! This will allow you to invoke your hearthstone at 50% of the time while your divine shield is active!

R.I.P bubble hearth. tribute video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFoSjONlBrI
I'm a little pristy, mighty and white. Here is my magic, here is my account. When I meet a paladin, he runs out. Pop up his bubble, and I mass dispel him out.
Just to make you know that it makes you lose aggro.
Keep that in mind if you're tanking.
I've come to terms with the duration nerf on Divine Shield. However, I was under the impression that both Divine Shield and Hand of Protection couldn't be dispelled. I guess I thought wrong.
This spell description doesn't mention anything about Lay on Hands, but the Lay on Hands description mentions inability to cast Divine Shield on yourself after Lay on Hands.
Does that mean you can cast Divine Shield and then cast Lay on Hands on yourself; but you are unable to cast Lay on Hands and then Divine Shield in this order? The same is for Hand of Protection.
A new Paladin glyph that is probably going to come out in Mists of Pandaria:
[item=80585]: During Divine Shield, you can invoke your Hearthstone 50% faster.Ooooh yeah. Bubblehearth's commin' back! :D
Source: Mists of Pandaria Press Event: Full Monk Talents Revealed and More! -Wowhead News
Edit: added link
In MoP bubble hearth will come back with Glyph of Righteous retreat.
Though this spell has been nerfed it doesnt mean it is not useful anymore
I think all paladins should have a cancelaura macro of this which shadowaninja said already.
It is extremely useful for dispelling debuffs or CC on you, even some debuffs that are not normally dispellable such as bleeds, and just to name a couple off the top of my head [spell=83908] from Halfus in BoT, and [spell=97811] from Nalorakk in Zul Aman (which is nearly 90% of the damage he deals to you in bear form) or sigils that the Archons put on you before they [spell=98040] you if your tanking. Debuffs/DoTs that stack to a undispellable point such as [spell=43299] from the dragonhawks in Zul Aman, Even in pvp it has more usages than just running in with it precasted to gain holy power, try using it to get out of any CC, dots, bleeds, poisons, colossus smash. Disregard the fact that it it is so easy to be dispelled off you and use it not as a emergency when your low health, but before to prevent yourself from getting that low health in the first place.Basically, anytime where there's bad stuff on you that you want off, when your too lazy to run out of stuff your supposed to run out of, or when you just want to run into stuff that your not supposed to run into....
Just remember to taunt first if your tanking, because it will drop your aggro, taunt only works because of the little "forces the target to attack you for 3 seconds" after that, you better have cancelauraed it or the rogue right next to you is gonna be really angry
"Glyph of Righteous Retreat: During Divine Shield, you can invoke your Hearthstone 50% faster." New pally glyph coming out in MoP
A pretty useful macro to get quick healing after using Divine Shield:
#showtooltip
/cast Divine Shield
/cast Dense Embersilk BandagePlease note that:
1. You should have First Aid @ 500 minimum to use this macro (very easy to do)
2. Bandage usage doesn't share Global Cooldown with Divine Shield so you getting heal straight after hitting the macro
3. This macro saves you lot of mana (more than 50 % of your total pool)
4. You don't need to press "healing" button multiple times as you do in case of casted healsHope this helps you fellow paladins!
No longer has a damage penalty with Patch 7.0. Paladins can now deal full damage while immune.
But as Sayge told me, "Divine Shields and Hearthstones do not make a hero heroic." (http://www.wowhead.com/item=19254#)
Blizzard poked a little fun with a Garrison paladin talent: [garrisonability=124]
I can confirm that Divine Shield doesn't protect you against the poison-cloud which currently envelops Lordaeron (Undercity).
So the "all damage and harmful effects" should be taken with a grain of salt.
"had not used >it< recently", did you use any other Forbearance causing spell in under a minute before? Hand of Protection and Lay on Hands also causes this effect. If not, then i suppose you simply were abandoned by the light.
The draenei are all about the bubblehearth.
It was good :)), With the new glyph (I forgot which one) using HS will be faster by half when using Divine Protection and this apply again.
It's worth noting that when Divine Shield is active in Holy Spec, the immunity granted by the shield applies to Light of the Martyr's self damaging effect. Which in turn, makes it your best single target healing spell, other than Holy Shock, of course.
Actually, global cooldown is 1.5 seconds. http://www.wowpedia.org/GCD#Global_cooldown
That's only enough if you've got enough haste to lower your global cooldown to a single second, and even with lag, it's pretty close. An absorb effect could push you through the last second though.
One a more serious note, can this be cast while stunned/feared/silenced? Or any other form of cc for that matter, I'm pretty sure a counterspell effect will prevent DS, not sure about the rest though.
Please upvote Strudels, his information is accurate. Paladins cannot bubble while locked out of the holy school.
Why? I mean WHY? After all those icons changed with 4.0, I was like - At least they left the good old pally bubble alone.
I know this is an old comment, but I want to clarify: You don't actually lose aggro, but an NPC will not attack an invulnerable target when it has other options, so it will move on to the next highest threat until the invulnerability wears off. Also, you can taunt during invulnerability to force the NPC to keep attacking you even during the shield.
Yeah, this only has one rank in Wrath of the Lich King. And yes, Forbearance is now 3 minutes and shared among Divine Shield, Divine Protection and Hand of Protection. However, I think I prefer this change now that Avenging Wrath no longer causes Forbearance. I cannot tell you how annoying it got to have this dispelled or stolen only to keep Forbearance! Additionally, I've heard, although I am unable to confirm that Divine Shield may have its duration reduced to 8 seconds to prevent Paladins from using Divine Shield and then using Hearthstone.
Lay on Hands, Hand of Protection and Divine Shield all cause the Forbearance, which prevents you from using one of these spells. PS: The tooltips of these spells are getting changed in patch 4.0.6 to make it clearer. See PTR.
Whilst you have the hidden appearance for [item=128823] equipped ([item=139564]), Divine Shield will also place an effect infront of you reminiscent of Reinhardt's Barrier Field, from Overwatch. This will stay until you either move, or Divine Shield expires.

Want to listen to [npc=61962]'s stories multiple times and listen to the wonderful talent of Jim Cummings more than once? This spell should be handy for blocking out [spell=120589]'s debuff.
It's largely used by tanks to remove a unpleasant debuff, or stacking debuff in a desperate moment of need, let's say for instance, the death of a critical healer, on the cusp of an high damage, unavoidable ability that the tank must eat, or during a encounter where a stackable debuff is applied to the tanks which requires a well timed switch from tank to tank, and the counterpart tank is dead and no battle Rez is available! These are generally linked by a macro to remove the shield immediately after its applied, to avoid the loss of 1 or more targeted enemies from a mob, or boss fight.
It appears that as of 3.0.2 this no longer suppresses threat for the duration. Can anyone verify this? Ive looked around at wowinsider/patch notes/maintankadin and havent found anything to verify.
as far as ive tested it appears you can use this for invinicible tanking now.
I've noticed this as well, although it *might* have been the new Divine Protection.
