This is the starting zone for the Night Elf race. Characters start in Shadowglen.

Darnassus, the capital city for Night Elves, is located in the western part of this zone.

A unique feature of this zone is that it is devoid of mineral deposits.

Teldrassil and Nordrassil are probably references to Yggdrasil of Norse mythology (possibly in combination of Norse and Yggdrasil = Nordrassil).

Yggdrasil in Norse mythology was the world tree that was supposed to connect the universe and it's 9 realms. In Teldrassil, as well as Nordrassil / Mount Hyjal, one encounters a great tree.

Just food for thought :)

Which, if you think about it, makes perfect sense. It's a giant friggin' tree holding you above the ground itself. From where would you expect to see ore laying around but on top of a forest canopy? 'Nuff said.
