Just watched my husband solo this as an 87 Arms Warrior. When the maw starts blowing his nasty breath at you, walk through him, you'll avoid the massive damage it does. Died twice before he tried this - easy using this method.

If you loose your little "Wrynn helper", you can simply leave the temple area and then return, and he will respawn.
Tricky quest.
Unsure if the pagoda bosses are different but I did struggle on the East Pagoda. Took 3 attempts.
I am a Healer monk Lvl88 quest gear only [207k health 200k mana]
I took 3 attempts on this guy, the first 2 ended miserably. Jab/kick and heals were a horrible method as stopping to heal just lets him blast with his breath so healing never kept up with the damage especially when adds arrive.
3rd attempt was success though. I completely ignored trying to heal as I knew it would end in disaster anyway and instead just kept on top of him circling around all the time [a la rogue] never stopping my circling at all and used jab/kick only. The circling helped a lot and I noticed he struggles to do any major damage. I also didn't get adds for quite some time [not sure what the trigger is for adds tbh]. While circling him he actually stops trying to face me when he has to do his breath and this meant I was able to stay away from it really easy as when he stopped trying to face me I knew he was about to breath [ an easy signal to spot :)]
I ignored all adds that arrived during the fight [I do not do massive damage as a healer] but ended fight at about 60% health.
Hope this might be of use to those that can keep moving and damage at the same time.

What to do
Description
Huge maws of despair are spewing out sha from the pagodas on either side of the temple. Meanwhile, your impromptu training in the Way continues. "She who mends torn umbrella will be more dry than she who strikes at rain." While I take issue with that particular lesson--sometimes punching the rain can be quite effective--the meaning holds true in this case. Take out those maws of despair and give my order a chance at reclaiming the temple grounds.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Sha Can Awe
The sha have the mysterious ability to evoke powerful, often overwhelming, emotional responses in their victims. As we fled the temple, senior members of the Crane Wing order stayed behind to cover our escape.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Striking the Rain
Now as for that "striking the rain" part... well, sometimes you have to. "Hope is the sun behind a stormy sky - ever in the heart, but veiled to the eye." There seems to be no end to the sha pouring out of the temple. But in order to see beyond the veil of despair, you must carve through it.
