I think I got ahead of myself. I got this quest before I had any champions, much less Beatface, in my arena. In fact, when I returned to my arena after getting to this phase, I then received 'A Rediscovered Legend', my first quest towards recruiting gladiators. Following through THAT quest led me to meet Beatface (and the other gladiators). So, clearly something a little screwy with how you're allowed to get this quest before meeting the gladiator to which it makes reference.
I've been seeing a fair amount of 'quests allowed to be performed out of order' issues with WoD quests. Fortunately, only one so far locked me out of actually completing two quests in the chain. The others just don't make a lot of sense - missing context - but you can complete them anyway.
Update: After recruiting Beatface, I went back to complete this but it was already ready for turnin though I'd never brought Beatface into the picture.

Description
After the saberon stole from these plants, they were forced further up Steamscar Rise and barricaded themselves in. I could not find a way to get in but you have the solution. One path is blocked by a boulder, but it looks weak. A strong warrior, such as an ogre, could break it. I think you know an ogre gladiator...
