This seems to be among a handful of world quests that they have completely changed before launch, but didn't change the in-game description/VO to reflect the changes. This one's particularly confusing, since even the name of the quest no longer has any bearing on what you actually do. It makes reference to using a totem, as does Cyrus in the VO. But all there is to do is kill things to fill a progress bar.

Bubbling Totem Testing
A World of Warcraft quest in Vol'dun. Facts and objectives from the current retail game data.

The quest is bugged in that if you ride in, you don't get the totem. However, if you leave the quest area, then walk in, you will get the totem as an Extra Action Button.
The totem surrounds every mob nearby in a bubble and lifts them up, stunning them. You can AOE to your heart's content. The bubble pops after about 2 seconds, and drops them, doing ~40% damage. So, it's easy to complete by getting the totem, running around and aoe'ing the spider eggs, then popping the totem. It's also an instant cast, so you don't have to worry about being interrupted.
But, as others have said, you can also complete it by just killing enemies in the area.
Good Luck!
This quest seems to be bugged. When I first arrived it appeared to be just a kill quest, but when I joined another group I got the totem action button. Not required to complete the quest as it just immobilizes the enemies while you kill them.
