I've contacted a GM and (s)he told me that it was indeed confusing but makes sense. The order was given two days ago and 'today' is the third day after the order was given. It really depends on the time perspective (e.g. today is Sunday, I gave you an order two days ago (=Friday) so today is the third day the order hasn't been fulfilled yet)

You are now part of the NEW UNDERCITY BATALLION. But enough with the comedy! I sent Deathstalker Yorick on a shadow operation two days ago. Her goal was to get information on the Gilneas Liberation Front and return. Three days and no word from her. Head southwest to the Ivar Patch and look for Yorick, {name}.
