TheWoWDBPro tip for those like me who didn't see the instructions on the side of the screen change. If you kill the jailer instead of pick-pocketing him (i was disarmed but could still pistol shot), he will NOT respawn and you can not get out of the cage. Waiting 10+ minutes does not work. Reloading does not work, logging out and back in does not work. Hearthing does not work. The only option is to use the 'character stuck' option in help, which transports you to a graveyard. It sent me to my hearth at Shrine, where I was then able to hearth to Dalaran.
At that point I was able to re-enter the portal and start the scenario over.Long story short. Always look around to see if your objectives have changed before assuming what you're supposed to do!

I Shadowstepped out of the cage then found out you could Pick Pocket the guard to get the key to open your cage 0_0
There is an icon in your quest log on the right for pickpocket, it will work even if you don't have the skill unlocked. Not sure if they patched it in but either way it's now doable.

Description
If you spare me I can use the rune of portals you provided to open a gateway to Akaari's citadel in the Twisting Nether. Of course, killing the Legion's master assassin in her own domain will be no simple feat, but surely the Fangs of the Devourer are worth the risk, no? <Val'zuun smiles.> I will guide you through the citadel once you arrive, but you will have to defeat Akaari on your own.
