For those of you finding this quest bugged - you are unable to click to remove chunks of the gem (mouse icon is a hand rather than the necessary gear icon) - abandon the companion quest ([quest=40599]) you get at the same time. Once the gem cut, you can reacquire the abandoned quest. Thanks to Gallond the First's Youtube video for the solution!

Description
Well, I've managed to repair the ring, but the gem still needs work. Say... you're a gemcutter, {name}. You've got the tools, so cut those jewels!

you mentioned that you can purchase the patterns from Jabrul, but he does not show me any vendor options after I rescued him from the Harpys. Is there another requirement to unlock that, or do I have to find him in another location?
