From a lore point of view, when you are killing Lady Heretica she says: "Do you not see? Without the fel, the shadow will prevail!"

This ties in perfectly with the lore that shows that Sargeras is doing this so as to prevent the world to be consumed by the shadow (void).

I think this is going to be brought up in the next expansion or the one after it.

Also if you think about it, Sargeras is doing what Illidan did but on a much grander scale. Difference is Illidan did it to stop the legion and Sargeras is doing it to stop the shadow (void).

Description

We've been presented with a rare opportunity. Our scouts have spotted two shivarra priestesses in the western fel pools enhancing the Legion's war effort. The inner circle of Sargeras' chosen never leave the walls of Antorus. If we take them out, we might be able to sow fear among those closest to the Dark Titan.
