only completing the assault i was able to see the giant pool

I couldn't get the quest to trigger. I was moving up and down the stream and everything, and it never showed up. I joined a custom group that moved me to another server, left the group and came back to my server, and there it was. It triggered, the big pool showed up (just outside Bristlemaul's cave) and I could complete the quest.

While the comments already given are helpful at first look, they appear to not be accurate every time this quest is available. According to the world map for this quest today, it's located due south of the flight path for The Witchwood, on the hill where the bears spawn (just northeast of Trueshot Lodge). I don't have coordinates, but I've been everywhere around Thunder Totem, both upper and lower levels, in every body of water, and this quest has not triggered anywhere near Thunder Totem. It only triggers when I go up the hill to the location I've previously described.
