Malevolent Remnants

Malevolent Remnants is a quest for level 25-30 in Netherstorm. It is step 62 of 103 in the Netherstorm storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Netherstorm at 57.5, 86.3. It rewards 4,100 experience and money.

Description

Most of the spirits in the village are little more than pale remnants of Kirin Tor mages. They retain no knowledge of their former selves and wander the ruins in blind anger.

It wasn't always like this, though. In the immediate aftermath of the attack, the spirits were restless, but not spiteful. With the passage of time they have only grown more aggressive. I dare not venture into the southern part of the village, for they will not spare even me. Quiet them and let us hope it will purge their anger.

Misleading. You can't start the chain until you at least "start," another chain first.

Do the quest "The Archmage's Staff." http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10173 - Complete that chain up until the 3rd part: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10174, then after that you should be able to get the quest. =]

I'd like to add that this quest is significantly easier if you realize that the spirits reside IN the houses and buildings. They sit in all but one of the one-room houses (even the 2 with no roof), there are 2 or 3 inside the town hall and I could only find 2 outside. Try looking indoors you'll have more luck; also, when you're in there fighting try and stay to the back of the building because the defenders pat close and might see you.

<Ravandwyr inspects the staff, noting that part of the headpiece seems to be missing.> Simply barbaric! Ekkorash must've taken the staff's crystalline headpiece for use in some other trinket, not realizing that it works in concert with the rest of the staff.

Silencing the spirits has not bled them of their aggression as we had hoped it would. The malevolent spirits you subdued have reemerged in the streets of the town. We must uncover what is causing this to happen.
