Since patch 7.0.3, this quest seems affected by a bug where there are way too many mobs for you and Yrel to take on along the path.
I got around this by mounting up and passing over the choke point, engaging Terrorfang directly, dragging him away from the village so that I would shake the aggro from the other mobs. Yrel will die but it didnt matter - I got the quest complete anyway.
Hard to describe where the choke point is - after you start Yrel will go through a narrow path where she encounters mobs pairs at a time, then moves to fight four mobs at a time at the end of the path. After this, you'll want to mount up and go straight to Terrorfang (coords: 37 60), aggro him, then move away from the village so that the eventual heat that would otherwise come after you gives up the chase.
Pop your offensive abilities, and stay out of his way. Once dead, you'll see the quest will be marked completed.
Win!

I don't know if it happens elsewhere but I really noticed the music during this quest. You get a suitable epic re imagining of the Alliance theme.
I don't think this is a think people noticed, but the pathing for Yrel is pretty amazing here. At it's base, this is an escort quest, except Yrel isn't useless, and the music and situation are well set up. If you look at her movements, however, they are FAR better than the escort quests from before. If you pull ahead of where you need to be, she will come fight (like in most escort quests), BUT she won't reset back to her original path. This speeds the quest up and makes Yrel feel like someone else fighting with you, rather than just an escort NPC.
Bonus: Druids can use stampeding roar to significantly increase her speed for a little while.

What to do
Description
I've failed, {name}... My squadron was caught by a wandering patrol. We fought fiercely, but the alarm had been raised. The rangari forced me into hiding before surrendering themselves to the enemy. They were under MY command, and they gave their lives... for what? I... I'm not sure what to do, {name}. We need to get out of here, but how?
