As far as I can tell the wolf you tame during this quest is a unique model found nowhere else. I don't know if you can go back and get it after that intro area if you get rid of it for some reason. For anyone that cares about unique hunter pet models lol.

Note that the beast you tame depends on your character's race. Humans get the Wolf, while as a Pandaren I got to tame a Turtle.
As a Night Elf I tamed a tiger

What to do
Description
I'm quite surprised to find this beast still alive and kicking. It appears to like you. Before we finish, you had better learn how to wrangle multiple pets. I'll give you one last lesson.

- Freeing the Light
Ah... you are not in league with the ogres. Please, you must aid me. I have been bound against my will by dark magic. I ask only that you free me. Take a piece of my light. Use it to dispel the shadow energies that are keeping me captive.

Before you head off, you'll want to get yourself a Hearthstone. This little stone will return you to the inn where you last bound it to. It's not much of an "inn", but the explorer's have a tent set up. Test out that new mount of yours and ride over to Happy Hal.
