Dont move into the cave of the tree. Just follow the blue arcane balls. They lead you throught Darnassus into the east to the goal.
If you're doing this in MoP remix, don't be mounted when you get near the portal. I had to do this quest twice myself because she'd just go into the portal then disappear and I wouldn't get quest credit. The second time, I dismounted about 50 yds away from the portal and she stopped to do her last bit of RP and I was able to turn it in and move on.

Description
We WILL get to the bottom of this. {name}, you're coming with me. We'll search every inch of this city if we have to, but we'll find out how they took the bell... and where. I'm picking up traces of arcane magic here... we need to follow the trail!
