Be prepared to hate this quest if you leave the quest-giver's area. If you wander off, you may kill dozens of the wrong kind of vrykul and yet never advance the quest.

Stay right in the immediate area where the archers fire off explosive arrows, and kill Winterskorn Defenders. When the quest mobs spawn, they yell to let you know they are there. You don't need to tap or personally kill the mobs, just like the one demon in IQD.

  • The Offensive BeginsHowling Fjord · Level 10-30

No one seems to know very much about the vrykul. Our records show no signs of activity in their lands for centuries. Yet here they are, just as we move against Arthas. The map you retrieved makes it clear that we'll have to defeat them if our forces are to get any further into Northrend.

After this quest

  • Baleheim BodycountHowling Fjord · Level 10-30

Them vrykuls just keeps coming and coming out from town west of here. No end in sight! Gorth has an idea. You go INSIDE town and kill them Winterskorn there. THEN they stop coming here!
