You can complete another quest while on this one. The Giant Tidecrawlers for Spiking the Mix are right outside the cave where the Plaguehound leads you.
Use the leash near the quest giver in Vengeance Landing then follow the dog. You will be lead to a cave by the coast where there will be a few mobs to kill to get to an item on the floor.

What to do
Description
Now that this rascal's belly's full, maybe he will be more willing to cooperate. Here's his leash, just come get him from his cage whenever you're ready to take him. I don't know what Anselm expects you to find, but look for clues wherever it is that the dog takes you.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

- Let Them Eat Crow
The high executor wants me to use my dogs to sniff out enemy scouts, but I can tell you right now these plaguehounds aren't going anywhere until they're properly fed.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Dragonskin Map
Upon closer inspection, the scroll appears to be a heavily-illustrated map of the fjord. The location of various villages are depicted in what seem to be tribal symbols. The location of Vengeance Landing is marked with a disproportionately large skull.
