TheWoWDBItems can only be retrieved from Ik'thik Amberstingers, you will notice that they are yellow in color and larger then the other scorpions. by killing these you will receive the brains.

As far as I know the Amber-Encrusted Brain quest item is a 100% drop rate so you only have to kill 3.(as far as I know its a 100% because thats what I've been getting on my 3 90's every day unless someone else hasnt?)

Description
Far to the south, the swarm breeds weapons of destruction - enormous, nearly unbreakable amber scorpions. Like all other creatures, they are subject to manipulation, but unlike other creatures, they have not yet submitted to my mind control. It appears that further research is necessary before I can dominate them for our own purposes. I must study their brains, and you must retrieve some specimens for me. Take this sonic emitter. I have found it to be quite effective against the beasts.
