Alodi, who Khadgar summons in this quest, was the very first Guardian of Tirisfal. He's a half-elf who helped the Council of Tirisfal banish the dreadlord Kathra'Natir when their Spearhead, the Guardian's predecessor, couldn't do the job. Alodi and Meryl came up with the method of transferring the Council's power into the Guardian from a distance, because with the Spearhead they had to do it close by and so risked endangering themselves. For the full story check out The First Guardian, a short chapter in one of the Warcraft: Legends manga.
His staff, Ebonchill, is the Frost Mage Artifact.
Good to know that Author! Author! is the last one in the quest line for now. I was running around Dalaran destroying every demon I could find. After the quest you can still interact with Khadgar, he says: Give us time to prepare, <hero>. Protect the city from the Legion, or use your map to find an invasion to stop. When the time is right to begin, I will call for you. So I did that, but after a while I decided to come check here on wowhead :)

Description
We've reviewed the tome recovered from Karazhan. Though we found references to the Pillars of Creation, one piece of crucial information was omitted from the book... where to find the artifacts. Fortunately, we have access to an expert on the subject. The author, Alodi, was the first Guardian of Tirisfal. His spirit is forever bound to the Forge of the Guardian, which has been hidden in our safekeeping. I think the time has come to call him forth.
