Easy to "cheat" by just taking a screenshot while it draws the pattern. Easiest if you have a second monitor and just open it side by side.
This is how I do these world quests - It works for me, it may not for you.
I'm not sure if that's an individual skill that I have because of the way my brain's neural pathways are ordered or whatever, but it works.
Watch the pattern as it unfolds and attempt to "burn" it into your mind and force your eyes to not see anything beyond it. Use the direct top down perspective as it makes this process easier. Once the full field appears, focus on the tiles that you have stared at in the seconds prior and do you best to ignore the rest of the grid.
And then just walk that path obviously.
