In general, you only get ONE CHANCE at this quest per week per character and you have an exact 1 hour time window to complete this quest. Disbanding and picking it back up does not work. The quest has a 1 hour time indicator and you get a buff called [spell=456024].
For each unique fish out of the 20 available you catch out of the while this buff is up you gain 1x [currency=3055], and if you caught all 20 (in 1 week or spanning over multiple weeks) you get the achievement The Derby Dash and the mount [item=223286]. For completing the quest you gain 10x [currency=3055] and you can choose between 2x [item=224752]/2x [item=225770]/2x [item=225771].
For this week (other weeks below):
- Crystalline Sturgeon - [object=451669]
- Isle of Dorne / Ringing Deeps
- Specular Rainbowfish - [object=451669]
- Isle of Dorne / Ringing Deeps
- Get [item=219002] beforehand
- Sanguine Dogfish - [object=451678]
- Hallowfall
- Get 10x Bloody Perch beforehand
General tips and notes:
This week can be fairly easy, or fairly difficult, depending on whether you want to spend gold / time on Lures/Fishes. I recommend going for Sanguine Dogfish first as it drops from a highly contended pool [object=451678]. If you get enough fishing/perception (say 300+ and 200+ respecively) you'll have a high chance to just fish it from these pools. Alternatively you can toss in 10x Bloody Perch and fish in open waters DO NOT MOVE AS THIS REMOVES THE BUFF [spell=456157].
Specular Rainbowfish is quite rare even with high fishing and perception. They can be fished from [object=451669] which is most abundant along the coast of Isle of Dorne in my experience. I would definitely recommend using a [item=219002] beforehand as this greatly increases your chances to catch this fish from [object=451669].
You'll most likely find Crystalline Sturgeon from [object=451669] when fishing for Specular Rainbowfish, they're quite common. They can also be fished from open waters, but your best bet is always the pools.
Fish and how to find them for other weeks (click the quest):

The last hotfix is so wild, the quest only reward 3 [currency=3055] now, was 25 before + some marks from bonus points for each first fish.
"Hallowfall Fishing Derby Hallowfall Fishing Derby" can now be completed on multiple characters, awarding 3 Mereldar Derby Mark Mereldar Derby Marks.
in my head, i planned to do this quest only once a week to obtain each achievements of 100 Algari Seekerthread and 100 Algari Anglerthread.
It was a quick farm to do every Saturday but now to gain more than 25 marks it's hell because you have to catch every fish.
I don't know why they did this but I'm not going to fish with 50 characters to have everything, it's a very bad change.
They need to revert the change and make it so that the first time we complete this quest it gives 25 points then 3 for alts characters.
Absolutely DISGUSTING change! As if that wasn't enough, I logged in my alt, took the quest but I don't have the "derby buff" and therefore, not only does it not count the fish indicated by the quest but it doesn't even give me the marks once caught. HOW DISGUSTING

What to do
Description
Life is always on the edge here, {name}. Nerubians, kobyss, hunger--there's always something ready to kill you. So we need to find times to relax, and challenge ourselves at something other than survival. Like fishing. My dad always spent Saturdays fishing, when I was growing up. He'd say, "Take some time for yourself, or you can't be effective for others." So every Saturday, I challenge people to the Hallowfall Fishing Derby. You have one hour to catch trophy fish. See what you can bring me!
