After you finish this quest a nice dialogue starts:

Corporal Teegan: Now then , <Name>. Let's see what this crazy stick is capable of...
Teegan uses the Bramblestaff and a plant tentacle sprouts out of the ground, swinging.
Ol' Durty Pete: Gol-Crawdad?
Corporal Teegan: Interesting. Very ... interesting.
the plant tentacle wraps himself around Ol' Durty Pete and begins swinging him around, Ol' Durty Pete starts shooting wildly.
Ol' Durty Pete: Frappin' cratchet! Sonnova HEY what!
Hannah Bridgewater: Stop shooting you senile idiot! You're going to kill somebody!
Ol' Durty Pete: 'magonna - git! Git! Horkin' nit, unfh, DABBIT!
Goucho: Hang in there ol' buddy!

What to do

StorylineSouthern Barrens, step 15 of 89
Rewards10g 50s, 4,100 XP

Description

One of the native species in Kalimdor is the 'quilboar.' Prickly little buggers. Reason enough to hate this continent. The raids started shortly after we established our forward camps. Worse, those spiny fiends seem to thrive in this thorny hell of a jungle. I need you to help beat them back so we can re-establish contact with Forward Command. While you're out there, acquire one of those twisted branches their casters seem to be using to manipulate the jungle growth...

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Filthy AnimalsSouthern Barrens · Level 10-30

You probably caught wind of some of them Hecklefang scavengers on the way in - they reek worse than ol' Durty Pete here. Worthless animals! They steal our kills, rummage through our supplies, and worse... they ain't good for eatin'. Go kill some. Then kill some more, if you want to.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A Failure to CommunicateSouthern Barrens · Level 10-30

I told him he was a fool, but Ambassador Gaines insisted he could negotiate an alliance with the quilboar against the Horde. Even if he succeeded, I for one wouldn't want to fight with those ... pig-men at my side.
