All three enemy pets have a set of 6 spells in their roster. Every time you start the fight, they choose 3 of them at random.
Nevertheless, they are not too hard to beat and you can bring a low level pet along for a nice XP boost as well.
If you have an addon to check enemy spells, you can make it a bit easier by restarting until only a few of the mana fiends have Arcane Explosion or Arcane Storm active. Here's a strategy that worked well for me:
- Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1 2 2)
- Level Pet (should be level 10+)
- Clockwork Gnome (1 1 1) - this is just a backup and mostly not needed)
- Start with Decoy, swap to your Level pet, then back to MPD.
- Breath all the way :-)Here's a write-up and more details on the fight: http://www.wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=LegionWQ&s=186
You will also find strategies for all other world quests there.

Soloed with Anubisath Idol 1, 1, 2
- Sandstorm when available
- Rupture when available
- Fill with Crush
Mana Tap is randomly available in Suramar (19.95, 35.26), only visible if you've unlocked World Quests, AND have a certain amount of progress within the zone*. Rewards will vary.
- Quick Note: this is NOT a part of Family Familiar.Surging Mana Crystal will have the following team (all level 25 rares):
[npc=105353][npc=105356][npc=105355](each pet will pick 3 of the listed abilities when starting the fight, instead of a static 3 attacks - forfeit/restart will re-randomize attacks)Random 3 of:
[pet-ability=421]
[pet-ability=488]
[pet-ability=589]
[pet-ability=299]
[pet-ability=593]
[pet-ability=440]Random 3 of:
[pet-ability=421]
[pet-ability=488]
[pet-ability=589]
[pet-ability=299]
[pet-ability=593]
[pet-ability=444]Random 3 of:
[pet-ability=421]
[pet-ability=488]
[pet-ability=589]
[pet-ability=299]
[pet-ability=593]
[pet-ability=923]
- RNG will be impacted by how many of the team randomize with [pet-ability=593].
This is yet another fight where [npc=64899] (1,2,2) reigns supreme.
- HazelNutty and Aranesh have both provided MPD strats to level a low(ish) level pet - H's here, A's here.
Other Options - pick 3:
- [npc=115139] (2,2,1) - maintain [pet-ability=315], using [pet-ability=611] on CD, [pet-ability=122] to fill
- [npc=32592] (1,2,2) - maintain [pet-ability=347], [pet-ability=611] on CD, [pet-ability=115] to fill.
- [npc=65321] (1,1,1) - [pet-ability=170] will avoid some damage, [pet-ability=168] as needed / on CD, [pet-ability=115] to fill
- [npc=7543] (2,1,1) - [pet-ability=170] will avoid some damage, maintain [pet-ability=347], [pet-ability=122] to fill
Pretty much: search for [pet-ability=122] and [pet-ability=115] - try to pick ones that also have heals and/or avoidance mechanics. The team you're fighting is all Magics, and they cannot be dealt more than 35% of their HP in a single attack.
*I didn't see this quest until I was revered with [faction=1859] AND completed the "Statecraft" storyline for Good Suramaritan. Though, for other battles (like The Master of Pets) - I only needed honored and "Blood and Wine".
