TheWoWDBAs kosridge said on a comment reply above, don't bother with grappling. If you just ride out on the ridge south of Haustvald to the little settlement at the tip, Inkbinder's Rise, you can take a little path on the northeast side of the village right up to the ore. No need to even dismount.
