The Jig is Up

The Jig is Up is a quest for level 10-30 in Howling Fjord. It is step 86 of 162 in the Howling Fjord storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Howling Fjord at 35.5, 79.4. It rewards 3 reward items and 5,150 experience. Completing it counts toward 2 achievements.

Description

I know why you're here, <name>. You've been sent to kill our leader, Jonah Sterling.

I'd like to offer my help. Jonah's leadership threatens our operation.

Attacking the Horde and the Alliance fleets simultaneously? Suicidal. Trying to sell the tuskarr as slaves when they die days after leaving this climate? Disastrous.

Jonah's hideout is located inside a cave west of here. Bring me his spyglass as proof of the deed and my first action as leader will be to end all attacks against your allies.

The NPC is located in the cave on the island the quest hub is located on. Entrance to the cave is at 33,75 - when you walk into the cave you'll see to your left there is a little hold the NPC is in, you begin fighting him and at 30% he'll run from you and jump through a whole in the gate and he'll get eaten by the big o'l bear down there. Kill the bear (who has like NO hp as of right now) and you'll loot the head.

I have a level 70 shadow priest with only outland blues for gear. Nothing special.

I found Jonah, as a level 70 elite to be pretty easy. Got me down to about 50% health (fear-mind flay->dot->repeat).

I did this after reading a couple of posts, especially by a shadow priest ( Kalakagathosa) who said that about the bear: "it was laughably simple" and "Lucky" who said that the bear "has like NO hp as of right now".

Boy, those bits of advice sure cost me!

I stupidly levitated down to kill this "laughably simple" bear and just started wacking with spells, finding fear was not good, and even though he was slow, he hit hard.

I died.

This also means having to kill Jonah all over again.

This time I ate some buff food (+40 stam), drank a potion I made (+20 to all stats), applied a Spirit scroll that dropped eariler (gives a spell bonus).

The bear got me down to 5% health, but I got him first!

Can it be done? Yup. But if you don't have any CC but fear, and you wear cloth, it is anything but "laughably simple". But it is doable.

  • Meet Number TwoHowling Fjord · Level 10-30

All the good work you've done for us hasn't gone unnoticed, <name>. Our second in command, the delightful Annie Bonn, is incredibly impressed with what you've done so far and wants to meet you.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Mission: Eternal FlameHowling Fjord · Level 10-30

The Forsaken are up to no good and from what I can tell, those plague tanks of sludge are a big part of it. If I may suggest, sir, we should probably destroy them before they can get any more use out of the things. I took the liberty of preparing a bundle of torches from the Ember Clutch.
