This part of the quest is soloable.

If you don't run with coords, then when looking at the map of Howling Fjord the tablet is just a bit northwest of where the dotted path lines begin on the northeast side of the map - north of Giant's Run.

What to do

StorylineHowling Fjord, step 119 of 162
Rewards10g 50s, 4,100 XP

Description

We must find what's luring the giants northwest, so we can stop them before they reach their destination. While the rune samples gave us some clues, the unknown runes worry me. When I visited Giants' Run, I noticed a large broken tablet jutting from the ground where the northeastern part of the area met the snow at the foot of Frostblade Peak. Take this sample, compare the runes with the tablet, and see what you can learn about the identity of this lodestone.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • The Book of RunesHowling Fjord · Level 10-30

Chieftain Ashtotem dispatched me on a scouting mission to Giants' Run, a broad, rocky plateau to the southeast, past the Frozen Glade. The area has been taken over by Iron Dwarves who seem to be altering the giants as they emerge from the earth.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Mastering the RunesHowling Fjord · Level 10-30

I think I've figured out what the Iron Dwarves are doing. The tools they use are imbued with magic during their forging. When they're used to carve runes, the symbols form much more than mere words. These runes have the power to bind, compel, and twist.
