The Old Map is a quest for level 15-35 in Valley of the Four Winds. It rewards 4,800 experience and money.
The old, faded leather is falling apart, but still legible.
Scrawled on it is some kind of map, and the following lines:
Deep in the valley where four winds blow,
The maiden laughs behind her golden fan.
At the feet of her ancestors' stair,
She whispers secrets into the echoing dark.

I just got the map from an Enormous Cattail Grouper in Cattail lake. I was on the quest A Gift For Haohan and it dropped along with the quest item. I am best friends with everybody and also exalted with Tillers which might make a difference. Wouldn't ever drop till right after I hit exalted.
Quest progression:
- The Old Map (from [item=86404] looted from [npc=59639] if you are exalted with [faction=1272] and are best friends with all the farmers Friends on the Farm)
- Just A Folk Story
- Old Man Thistle's Treasure (rewards [item=86428] which contains one of each rare gem)
- The Heartland Legacy (achieves Ain't Lost No More)
This quest starts the chain for the achievement Ain't Lost No More
