I was unable to complete this quest on 11/20/24 as Archamge Karlain was missing. I did some hunting for a work around or a fix. As WoW themselves said they haven't fixed it yet. The problem has to do with the war within expansion. If you have already completed the introductory quests and he is missing then you must do the following. If you go to Dorgonal to Brann Bronzebeard. Then party up with a character below level 70 and party sync. You can get a friend to make a lvl 1 just to do this. Brann Bronzebeard will show the quest 'Adventuring in Khaz Algar'. Accept this quest then, Pick an area on the map directly across from him and to the left. Once completing this quest the archmage will reappear in legion Dalaran. This worked for me. I hope this helps!

Description
I'm sorry, {name}, but I can't make heads nor tails of this. Riddles have never exactly been my strength. We should take this cultist's writings to the archmage. Perhaps he could shed some light on this.
