I got stuck at the portion of this quest where you need to speak to Anduin and then listen to his advisers, in the castle.

As it turns out, I also had the quest where I needed to meet Jaina at the docks and it created two different sets of advisers - one directly in the throne room, one off to the side. Once I completed Jaina's quest, I was also able to complete this quest and listen to the advisers.

I really like this questline, I like Anduin and think it's cool to see some character development for him; however, maybe one little comment. Anduin speaks so much about how he could never live up to the hero that Varian had been— as though Varian hadn’t spent a long time completely missing from Stormwind while child Anduin technically wore the crown. Don’t get me wrong, that wasn’t Varian’s fault by any means and at the time Anduin didn’t actually act as ruler– but even as a small boy he had known the profound pain of being parentless. Then while still a child he had faced Onyxia head-on, and later in his teens he’d been captured by the Horde in a distant land, and ultimately stood up to Garrosh and personally faced the consequences.

But right now he speaks like he’d spent his life completely sheltered and nurtured, and I can't help feeling like this isn't the case.

Description

My father was a legend. He oversaw the rebuilding of Stormwind, stood toe-to-toe with dragons, led the Alliance to numerous victories. Then, one day, he was just... gone. I wear his crown, I hold his title. But I've done nothing to earn them... or the faith of my people. I've spent the war sequestered in the keep, surrounded by guards and advisors. I need to walk the streets of Stormwind, to know whether it is hope or fear that beats in the hearts of my people. I welcome your company.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Before this quest

  • Consoling the KingLevel 45

Anduin hasn't been the same since you brought him his father's compass. He has become listless... distracted. We attempted to console him, to no avail. Yesterday morning, he left the keep without so much as a word. I ordered the guards to follow him, of course.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A Personal MessageLevel 45

The time has come for me to travel to the Broken Shore and see, for myself, the place where my father died. If I am to be the king my father was... the king Stormwind deserves, I must know firsthand the threat my people face. Please tell my advisors that I've gone to the Broken Shore.
