There's a funny little Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone reference after the dwarves finish hammering the Azerite.
Drukan the Dwarf will run into the room yelling
"Goblins! In the tunnels!" "Thought you oughta know."
after which he colapses.This is a refence to the scene in Harry Potter where Quirinus Quirrell (Dude with turban who has Voldemort on the back of his head) runs into the main hall shouting
"Troll! In the dungeon! Thought you oughta know."
and then colapses.
I feel like nobody has laid this out quite the way I was looking for when I came here to try to figure it out, so just to lay it out plain and simple:
There are technically THREE requirements to unlock Dark Iron Dwarves.
1. Reach Exalted reputation with the 7th Legion.
2. Complete the Ready for War achievement.
3. Complete the Blackrock Depths QUEST Blackrock Depths - NOT the dungeon.The last part is where I got confused and so did others. To pick up this quest, go to Stormwind City. Moira is located in the Stormwind Embassy building with the other Allied Race emissaries. It is right at the northernmost point of SW, a bit to the left of the banner if you're looking at the map. For TomTom users, the coordinates are 52, 13.8. You'll pick it up from Moira Thaurissan there. Then you can do the quest line to unlock Dark Iron Dwarves!

Description
Have you heard how the Dark Iron dwarves joined the Alliance? It was a most unusual turn of events. Brave heroes of the Alliance had been fighting the Dark Iron dwarves for years until a schism happened in their ranks. Moira Thaurissian, estranged daughter of the former dwarven king Magni Bronzebeard, was leading a faction of the Dark Iron dwarves. Moira wished to aid the Alliance. This began with an offer to help research Azerite and its potential uses within Blackrock Depths...
