There's a way to make this quest, and the giant-killing one before it, easier.
There's another quest, called Rune of Command surprisingly enough, that gives you a Rune of Command to use as often as you like as long as you haven't handed it in, effectively giving you a pet Stone Giant to help you fight the Runed Stone Giants and this Megalith character.
I'm not sure when this'll get nerfed though, if at all. :)

Not immune to snares, soloed quite easily as a 74 destro lock in T6. He doesn't hit any harder than the elite giants you had to kill for March of the Giants, and has approximately the same amount of health (around 27k). He does do a large knockback once and awhile so make sure you are not near any other mobs.

Before this quest

The LodestoneHowling Fjord · Level 10-30
If we can locate what's luring the giants northwest, we might be able to stop them before they reach their destination. Although I was able to decipher many of the runes on the samples you brought me, the ones I don't know concern me the most.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

See to the OperationsHowling Fjord · Level 10-30
Our work out here is really just beginning. But now that we've brought these flying machines in from Westguard Keep, it should really pick up. The problem is that we're lacking enough qualified pilots.
