Hillhelm Family: The Ear

IMPORTANT: You need a special pair of gloves to pull up two quest items for 2 different quests, which are part of the achievement Life On The Farm. You need the Unusual Potato and The Ear for their quests of the same name. Once you complete these quests and the rest in the achievement, you'll be awarded the achievement and two tool appearance transmogs. There is nothing in the instructions that indicates how to do this part of the achievement, and there are some very important steps.

1. 
   
2. Buy the gloves Darkroot Grippers from Chef Dinaire at /way 64.4 31.0. Equip them and you'll get a buff that lasts 8 hours. With it, you can pull up the wiggling Shadowrooted Vine that appear all over the farm fields.

4. Go to the field where Parasideous spawns at Hallowfall /way 61, 32. He doesn't need to be active, and you can find the roots in other places, but this spot is great because there are very few aggressive mobs around to distract you. Some players have even reported that they could not get the quest items to drop while Parasideous was alive, so if he spawns, you may need to kill him.

6. Find a wiggling vine and click it. Don't pull yet. (If you can't click on the vine, fly out of the zone, and then fly back in and you'll see a hand icon over the vines as you get close.)
7. 
   
8. While holding the vine, target a hostile NPC. It's best to target a dead one if you can, because if you target a live one, it will aggro to you when you pull on the vine, no matter how far away it is. If necessary, kill the NPC.

10. Pull the vine while the NPC is targeted. (This seems to be the quickest way to get the item to drop. I tried for hours without targeting anything and got nothing. As soon as I started targeting NPCs, I got both quest items within 3 pulls.)

12. Turn in both quest items to Aliya Hillhelm at /way 61.2 30.6.

tl;dr Target Lashrooms while pulling the vines.

It was hard for me to spot them. So this macro worked really well for me.
