Read the Manual

Read the Manual is a Horde-only quest for level 5-30 in Northern Barrens. It is step 51 of 62 in the Northern Barrens storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Northern Barrens at 62.2, 17.4. It rewards 2 reward items, 1 reputation reward, 5,150 experience and money.

Description

Back when I was in the Tinker's Union, Boss Copperplug was the best engineer we had. He defected to the Venture Company shortly before I left, and took his greatest techniques with him. He hoarded his secrets, doling out bits and pieces of knowledge to his trusted inner circle.

If he built the samophlange, then he's probably got the manual. Last I heard, he was operating right here, out of Boulder Lode mine to the northeast. Get the manual from him, and collect the pages from his followers.

After you turn in the quest a little dialogue starts up.

Sputtervalve says: Let's get this samophlange operational!
Sputtervalve says: All I have to do is resequence the oscilating coolant pressure valves...
Brak Blusterpipe says: It's beautiful! ...have we figured out what it does yet?
Sputtervalve says: No idea. But it's doing it perfectly!
Nozzlepot says: Is that a working samophlange? Throttle it up! MAX POWER!
(the samophlange explodes)
Nozzlepot says: Sputtervalve, you're a genius! I'll take 30.
Sputtervalve says: Right away, Noz.

Gotta love Goblins. ;D

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

  • Return to SamophlangerNorthern Barrens · Level 5-30

Well, that didn't work. The structural integrity of the samophlange is at an all-time low. I could add some more dials to try and fix it, but...that might make things even worse.

After this quest

  • Competition SchmompetitionNorthern Barrens · Level 5-30

I'm just a little guy, trying to set up my own independent business. Working hard toward the Azerothian dream, ya know? Well soon as I set up shop, the Venture Co. next door decided they wanted me out.
