Journal Entry - Day ?

The basilisks have accepted me as one of their own. I've killed hundreds of them, thousands. Decimated their population time after time and still seen no sign of Rethu. But through it all I have earned the respect---or the fear---of the leystone basilisks of Azsuna. Hours of blood and mining has come at the cost of the tears of my wilting soul in this abyssal grind. I'm not sure Rethu is even real. What a ridiculous name too! "Rethu Ironhorn" Of course he's not real. Just a mad hallucination of my failing mind---but I must continue. Basilisks must die. Corpses must be mined. The eternal cycle continues. Where am I? T-T

OMG. FIFTH kill and it spawned! I am an uber-collector so I was prepared for a massive grind. Just finished weeks of grinding Leystone Seams on Broken Shore to get level 3, came here to look for farming locations, decided to give Stormheim a try. Went to Hafr Fjall flightpoint at the south of the zone near the PVP tower. Flew down to ground level, popped three basilisks as I worked my way west along the shelf, saw the cave, popped the first basilisk there, popped the second one, AND RETHU SPAWNED! Cave entrance 54.68, 90.67. Thank you thank you THANK YOU to those who mentioned this spot. GL to you all!

It is now almost patch 11.0.7 and I have been trying to get this on my miner alt since 7.0.1.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, all the other Legion mining skill-ups came fast and easy. But when Battle for Azeroth came, my efforts went away from the Legion zones. As each successive expansion wound down and server populations dwindled, I would always go back and try to finish this one last bit of Legion mining. Especially after Broken Isles Mining Techniques was added towards the end of Dragonflight (patch 10.1.7).

Now, after no-lifing my way through the 20th Anniversary event (and that being done while not fully recovered from the burnout of no-lifing Pandaria Remix), I am looking forward to doing near no-effort activites like mining and herbing. And I find myself mirroring Rubysage's thoughts. I may well have already descended into madness.

No matter the many leystone basilisks I have sacrificed in his name, Rethu Ironhorn refuses my offerings. At this point, I would gladly accept the gift of the Black Blood from Xal'atath in hope that Rethu Ironhorn may appear to me this one last time.

Description

Miner... speak with me a moment. I haven't much time in this place. I see you fight for your ore. I believe that is the most noble way to obtain your stone. It gives the land a fighting chance. Still, one mustn't be callous with their own life. Dig too deep, and the land will overcome you. No stone is worth the price I paid. But that is a tale for another day...
