This quest is bugged, if you are online when the timer for your compost completes, the quest will not tick over, you need to log in with the compost timer completed for the quest. If you use the completed fertilizer on the plant before the quest ticks over, you'll have to combine a new fertilizer and wait another 3 days.

5 x Tel'Abim Banana sold by [npc=207627]

3 x [item=209416] looted on ground in [npc=210195] area.

5 x [item=208644] looted from [npc=210772].

Use [item=208644] to combine the 3 ingredients to make [item=208646] that takes 3 days to compost.

Edit: WARNING

I have read reports of a bug in the next step. Although mine worked, others say that their fertiliser didn't register but was still consumed after 3 days when used on the Sprout. A theory is "being online when [item=208646] hatches". No idea if correct or of any workaround (maybe relogging before applying), but be aware.

Part of the quest chain to obtain the [item=210774].

  1. Buy one stack (of 5) Tel'Abim Banana from [npc=207627] at /way #2200 49.8 61.6 Saelienne (Tel'Abim Banana)

  2. Loot 3× [item=209416] from [Turtle Egg] (object) around /way #2200 41.6 77.2 Turtle Egg object (Turtle Eggshell Shards)

  3. Loot 5× [item=208644] from [npc=210772] around /way #2200 55.6 52.2 Fenblossom Lashling (Lasher Plant Matter)

  4. Use [item=208644] once to create one [item=208646].

  5. Wait three days (72h) for the compost to complete, then fly back to the [npc=209458] at /way #2200 48.68 67.9 Dewy Sapling

  6. Speak to it, spread the fertilizer, tell a joke or recite a poem, and turn in the quest with the plant, resetting the wait timer.

Note: Many players had an issue with the fertilizer item’s timer not finishing when being logged-in. I set a timer when to log out, and at the next login, everything was fine.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A Dash of Minerals...Emerald Dream · Level 10-80

I think we have a chance with this one, <name>. But we'll need to begin revitalizing the soil if we want to see this plant flourish. Head to the Eye of Ysera and harvest fish bones from the Fathomless Lurkers in the depths of the water. They're rich in minerals and degrade easily.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • And a Pinch of MagicEmerald Dream · Level 10-80

The diligence you've shown here is astounding, <name>. I never suspected that someone who couldn't even find their own bucket, could do something like this. I think the sapling is almost there, and with my help we can bring it the rest of the way.
