The quest bugged for me when the meter reached 100 - there were 2 npcs - one still casting and the second one took his role in cut scene - after abandoning and reacquiring the quest all was fine. As a reward you receive blue 410 ilvl gloves.

This bugged for me. I'm a level 26 Hunter using Chromie Time to level. This quest should only take about two minutes to finish. If the NPC "Shan Jitong" appears before the quest is finished, go ahead and abandon it and try again. Shan Jitong should only appear after you get credit for finishing the quest.

Abandoning the quest and restarting worked for me. Make sure there's a gold floating "orb" above the altar before you run back to restart the quest. Mine wasn't there the first time, and I suspect that was the issue. It appeared shortly after I abandoned the quest.

There needs to be something like a flame floating over the altar to complete the quest. If you take the quest and don't head down there immediately sometimes it bugs out and when you get there the flame is not there. If you don't see the flame, don't even bother killing mobs, abandon and go get it again...

What to do

StorylineThe Jade Forest, Greenstone Quarry & Terrace of Ten Thunders & The Jade Serpent, step 15 of 35
Rewards13g 74s, 6,000 XP

Description

We are ready to open the tan-chao and guide all of these spirits back to peace. If I may, I would have your assistance once more. The mogu will surely sense the ritual taking place and will do everything in their power to halt it. I need only a few moments without interference, and once the path is open it will surge too greatly to be closed. If you are willing to help one more time, please accompany me to the ritual site.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A Humble OfferingThe Jade Forest · Level 10-35

I'm almost ready for the ritual, there's just one more thing we need: An offering. Relax, I don't mean a sacrifice. Just a bit of food. There are sure to be mushrooms growing in Tideview Thicket to the northwest that are suitable for this. Please bring some.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Pei-BackThe Jade Forest · Level 10-35

<Ancestral spirits stream into the tan-chao, Pei-Zhi's bridge to freedom. One final chamber lingers in the ruins, just north of the tan-chao. The air above crackles with foul energy. Shan Jitong is already at work.>
