These beasts aren't tameable, alas.

(I did the entire quest before thinking about it, and then abandoned/redid to double check. The beast spirits can't be targetted by Beast Lore - clicking on them or their portrait does not change the mouse-hand, it still has the glow of 'spell in holding'.)

(Putting the info into a top level comment because I have problems finding things in replies, so maybe other people do, too)

The spirit beasts will either come out friendly (green) or aggressive (red) and you need not kill the target creature first and it does not use the creature up (you can continually hit the same mob/corpse with the bottles for all eight).

Edit:
There is no need to hit any creature/corpse with the AoE. Just break it in the area.

What to do

StorylineThe Jade Forest, Greenstone Quarry & Terrace of Ten Thunders & The Jade Serpent, step 13 of 35
Rewards13g 74s, 4,800 XP

Description

I'm afraid I have another favor to ask, {name}. The bottles you recovered contain neither the spirits of mogu ancestors nor recently slain foes; they contain spirits of beasts. It seems the spiritclaws have resorted to poaching in an effort to fuel their simulacra. This complicates our task, for I cannot take the beasts with me through the bridge. Take the bottles west to Tideview Thicket and smash them to return the spirits to nature. Some may be blind with rage and will need to be subdued.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • The Wayward DeadThe Jade Forest · Level 10-35

The process of mass conjuring, as the mogu are doing here, is not without byproduct. Some spirits arrive too distraught or unruly to be harnessed, so they are confined and left to wander until their desperation leaves them more malleable.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A Humble OfferingThe Jade Forest · Level 10-35

I'm almost ready for the ritual, there's just one more thing we need: An offering. Relax, I don't mean a sacrifice. Just a bit of food. There are sure to be mushrooms growing in Tideview Thicket to the northwest that are suitable for this. Please bring some.
