The display for this quest is wrong. It says you have to gather 15 food. but all you really need is 10. So don't be an idiot like me and stand there for 10 minutes wondering why you can't click on the food anymore.

This quest is horrendous. You can't pick up the food in combat which means, while you're getting pounded on by 2-4 mobs, someone else will swoop in and snatch the item you were trying to grab in the first place.
Bottomline is, the best way to complete this quest currently is by being a total asshat.
Currently the quest says you need 15 food stores, but the items stop glowing once you pick up 10. Upon returning to Griff, you can turn in the quest with only 10.

What to do
Description
<Griff's stomach growls.> Whenever we Dragonmaw go on the warpath, everyone stops hunting. The best tasting food is stolen from the mouths of the enemy. Up on the ridge north of the river there's a bunch of wrecked Wildhammer houses. I bet they're loaded with food. Bring some to my mouth.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Total War
Many of the Wildhammer have already fled their homes. It is time to wipe them from the map. Up on the ridge to the north you will find abandoned houses in the Thundermar Ruins. Kegs of potent Thundermar ale have been left behind. Thundermar ale is 220 proof; I don't know how that's possible.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Drag 'em Down
A single Dragonmaw drake is worth a dozen Wildhammer gryphon-riders. Take them off of their lice-ridden birds and they're nothing. Even you can slay them easily, Horde-<class>. Hunt gryphon riders flying over the river north of Bloodgulch. Take this hook and fling it at them as they fly by.
