I have to say this quest is extremely frustrating.
The gifts look like tiny ragdolls and spawn near or inside the satchels laying around the area. Currently the respawn rate seems really horrible. Sometimes you don't get credit for destrying them either.
However, they are targetable. This macro makes it a little easier to find them:
/tar unusualEdit: this has now been hotfixed and the gifts respawn really fast now!
