See step 2 below for this specific quest.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE CHAIN, you may want to get a couple Raw Clefthoof Meats from the auction house, a Trading Post trader, or bank storage for step 5. You'll also need three bag slots free for step 2.

This guide includes info on the full "The Blessing of Beasts" quest chain, one of the six quest chain criteria for the Master Relic Hunter (Alliance)/Master Relic Hunter (Horde) achievement needed to get the [follower=465] follower with unique [garrisonability=248] ability. The quest chain takes place in Frostfire Ridge, the northwest Draenor zone where Horde characters begin on the continent.

Getting Starter Quests: The first quest of the quest chains are given by Harrison Jones, who turns up just inside your garrison's Town Hall on random days. He's in some garrisons every day, giving the same chain's starter quest in every garrison for that day. Use Group Finder's Premade Groups/Custom category to search for "Harrison" to see if anyone is inviting people to their garrison to get the quest.

Bug Notes:

  • If you collect an item that should complete a quest, but the quest isn't shown as completed, log off and back on (just reloading won't work), click the quest in your quest log, and see if you can click "complete quest".

  • Leave at least one spot free in your quest log (i.e. 24 of 25), or a quest may become uncompletable going from one quest to the next.

  • You can not do these quests in a raid group; doing some steps in a raid group can make a quest uncompletable.

  • If a quest becomes uncompletable, you can return to your garrison, delete the quest, and re-accept the quest on that step of the quest chain from the book of [object=239791] on the ground next to Harrison Jones. All but the initial quest are also shareable from party members, if you are on the same step of the quest chain.

For Alliance with no flightpoint to Frostfire Ridge:

  • Fly to the Bastion Rise flightpoint in southern Gorgrond

  • Walk along the path west into Talador until it dead-ends into a north-south road at [67, 3] in Talador

  • Turn right and keep following the road north through Gorgrond into Frostfire Ridge

  • In Iron Siegeworks, turn right (east) at an intersection at [85, 60] to learn the flightpoint at [86.7, 62.1]

  • Follow the path west into the rest of Frostfire Ridge; a cave-in seems to block the path, but there's a crack between the rocks the left

You should also learn the Bloodmaul Slag Mines flightpoint at [51.4, 21.4] between steps 2 and 3. Easy follower: While you're in Frostfire, you can also get [follower=32], a level 92 ogre follower; just click a cage to free him at [65.9, 60.8] on your way to step 1, click a second cage at [39.6, 28.0] after step 5, then click him outside your garrison to make him a follower.

Quests:

1. Treasure Contract: The Thunderlord Sage: At [70.1, 26.8], click on [npc=90176]'s corpse on the animal bones, choose "Search for clues" in the pop-up window, and click the "Click to complete quest" on the next pop-up window. If you don't use coordinates, it's about 1.5 letter's height below the "N" in the word "MAGNAROK" on the Frostfire Ridge map, next to large animal bones within a circular pool of molten and solid rock. You can type "/tar windreader" to target his corpse, if that helps.

  • Bag Space Tip: After you get credit for completing this quest, you can safely delete [item=122101] from your bags. It's just for interesting reading. Each Harrison Jones quest chain leaves a similar soulbound book in your inventory (click for list).

2. Gronnsbane: The Broken Spear: Gather the three items, fairly nearby, which show up as a yellow dot on the minimap as you approach them. (1.) [72.45, 26.87] [item=122099], (2.) [70.82, 23.69] [item=122098], (3.) [71.87, 33.34] [item=122096] in the Refuse Pit area. If you don't use coordinates, the quest's markers on your main map will get you close enough that you should be able to find them.

3. Gronnsbane: The Blessing of Fire: Go to [42.44, 13.03] and click the [object=239926] above the end of the lava falls, NOT the [object=226468] at the bottom of the falls which is also clickable. If you're at the bottom, walk up the path by the Frostwolf Shamanstone and make your way through the mobs up and around to the top - it's a roundabout walk up there. Once you click the Molten Shamanstone, click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up window.

4. Gronnsbane: The Blessing of Frost: Go to [49.22, 21.39] at the top of the tower. From step 3, jump back up the rock next to the Shamanstone and go south toward a snowy path up a hill, to the left of a fiery path. Take the first left up that snowy path around [43.5, 22.5], cross a rock bridge around [47.1, 21.2], go up a curving hill, into the tower, up the spiral ramp to the top, click the [object=239925], and click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up window.

5. Gronnsbane: The Blessing of Beasts: You'll need one Raw Clefthoof Meat, or maybe more than one if you die, to summon [npc=90598] on this step, OR you can just wait for someone else with meat to summon [npc=90598] (you just need to help kill it, and then click on its corpse). If you need meat, you can buy it off the auction house, or from a garrison's Trading Post trader, or farm it from clefthoof & similar mobs in Frostfire Ridge, such as [npc=73234]/[npc=76711] around [29, 20], [32, 23], or [35,17].

Go to the altar at [45.57, 28.15]. From step 4, walk down the tower (you could die jumping), west back across the bridge, west back to the snowy path around [43.5, 22.5], and follow the path south up to the altar. If you have meat yourself, click the altar, then click "Place offering of raw clefthoof meat" to lure down [npc=90598], then kill him. If you don't have meat, wait for someone else to place meat and lure him down, then help kill him. Warning: avoid standing in Frosted Ground too long; it can kill you even after Gok'tal dies. Also, you can sidestep Gok'tal's Frost Breath as he's casting it. Even if you don't click the altar yourself, killing Gok'tal fulfills half the quest, "Lure and kill an ancient black rylak". Next, click Gok'tal's corpse to cast Bloodying and create an [item=122103]; that fulfills the other half of the quest, "Empower Gronnsbane with Gok'tal's blood".

Important: Double-check that the quest is ready for turn-in (you must click his corpse after killing him) before going back to your garrison to turn it in to [npc=81492] (Alliance) or Rokhan (Horde).

You will probably begin looking for quest items from location of big runic phillar, very noticeable and found in the center of Magnarok area.

First two items should be marked directly on your mini-map. Head north, and pick up first fragment near the lava pool (close to the spawn location of rare: [npc=87351]). Once obtained, turn to your right (or simpler: east side of already mentioned runic monolit) and locate spine of dead beast.
You should have your second fragment by now.

The last one lies a bit further away from the others, in area called "Refuse pit" which is south of our phillar. Once there, your eyes will gaze upon skull of great monster. Thats right, the spear's blade is found on top of the very skull.

Be prepared to switch location - you will be leaving Magnarok and progress through chain in another 100s area - Stonefury, west of Magnarok.

So, i did Treasure Contract:The Thunderlord Sage, then collected the 3 pieces of Gronnsbane and assembled them....but i couldn't get to the blessings that day, so when Harrison spawned again for me, I tried to pick it back up at that point, but it wants me to start the entire chain again with the Thunderlord Sage... :-( Any suggestions?

Description

Looking through Argoram's journal, it becomes apparent that claiming this relic will be far more complicated than simply finding the pieces of the spear. However, that would be the best place to start...
