I have seventy three serpent's eyes from prospecting. Now, I could spend a month trying to get rid of them (for a decent price) on the auction house, or I could make a few more gems so that I don't have to mine as much.
The first one contained 1x Imperial Amethyst and 1x Design: Sapphire Cub
This item seems to be a world drop seen it drop in dungeons and in the new daily area and you dont have to be lvl 90 to get it to drop. It takes an Anvil to make, 1 day CD and you get a rare quality gem or a primal diamond or the harmony pet patterns. I got this on all my alts by queueing for dungeons on all my alts and got both patterns to drop after an average of just 2 dungeons.
As of 11.0, there have been API changes to the original PickUpSpell() command, so that no longer works. Use /run C_Spell.PickupSpell() now instead.

All wrong. Does NOT require an anvil. just another way to create gems. Not worth it if you ask me. Just prospect.
Contained a River's heart. Pretty random drops from what I can tell. Maybe you can get new recipes or high level gems without having to call an Alchemist friend.
i would've logged my opening this with the wowhead addon, if it weren't for the fact that it was out of date and wasn't working with my version of wow, but from my experience, it contains a random rare quality gem (sometimes two) and dropped off the sha of anger in my case, i'm not sure if it drops off anything else.
Required anvil in my zhTW server.
