Magnificence of Leather

Magnificence of Leather is taught by [item=95467]
Requires Pandarian Leatherworking (Visit [npc=65121]) skill 1 to loot the pattern from mobs.

The goats at 29,37 in Valley of the Four Winds is a good place for skinners to farm Exotic Leather and get the pattern at the same time.
This creates 1 Magnificent Hide from 20 Mist-Touched Leather
This and Magnificence of Scales share a daily Cooldown and is used to research unknown pandarian patterns.

[spell=131865] which requires 50 exotic leather has no cooldown, increased cost but most importantly will not research new patterns.

All daily cooldown profession patterns are unusable inside of dungeons.

These pvp recipes are great a way to make money of AH. Since they are pretty good and fairly cheap they sell real fast.

I thought epic gear with be money maker but I struggled a lot to sell them and profit was marginal while these blues are selling like hotcakes for more then double of cost of Magnificent Hide. Make sure you do magnificence every day!

Technically 83. Two of the recipes on that list are the Magnificence of Leather/Scales recipes you learn the patterns with. It breaks down to 10 tier sets (3x Druid, 3x Shaman, 2x Monk, Rogue, Hunter), 8 PvP non-set Belts, Bracers, Boots (2 Agi Leather, 2 Int Leather, 2 Agi Mail, 2 Int Mail, each different secondary stats), 8 Epics (Helm and Boots of the same claissifcations as the non-set PvP), and the pattern for Magnificent Hide Pack.

What is the blacksmithing equivalent of this item?

Today i won one in LFR, i tried to use it after i learned it inside the instance and it said "you can't use that here"....

Is it just me or is the amount of Dreadful Gladiator items a tad much? Why so many PvP items and virtually no PvE items? But on an up note, I am sure accumulating a significant amount of Magnificent Hides.

Depends on what profit you'd get from what you'd do with the time otherwise spent farming leather. Or if you have stuff to do. Nothing is ever "free" or "pure profit" just because you farmed it, you have "paid" the time you used for it, and the price your time "saved" you was the current value of the items gathered (mostly your realm's AH). Notice that you commented after 1 month since the post, and the price of leather has in my experience gone up since Crafted Gladiator's gear was introduced in patch 5.2.

I've now learned 15 new patterns thru this. Only one has spirit, which is what I need as a leather-wearing healing monk. It is totally frustrating.

Also, if you use the add-on "Ackis Recipe List" there is a scan feature that you can set to only show patterns you haven't learned and how to obtain them. This works for all crafting professions.

Look at your char on wowarmory.com. There you can see if you still need to learn new patterns.

I as well noticed that I am only now learning a recipe when I craft Hardened Magnificent Leather. I am not getting anything when crafting Magnificence of Leather. Seems to me that if I'm not getting a recipe any more for Magnificence of Leather, it should no longer be on a cooldown lol

Currently, Blacksmiths have both Lightning Steel (as linked above) and http://www.wowhead.com/item=100865 -- Balanced Trillium makes the 553 gear, which makes it more useful, but the reborn weapons come from LSI.

Can't be researched in instances :)

There's 4 pairs of PvE level 553 armour (belt & legs) under Hardened Magnificent Hide.

So I have been making these every single day for a week and I haven't learned a SINGLE new recipe at all. What gives? This is ridiculous.

You saved me. I was farming in the wrong place for the recipe. (on isle of Thunder). the goats are the key.

If you're concerned about maximizing profit, wouldn't it make more sense to go out and farm the leather instead of buying it?

For some reason I've only got 1 monk item so far, been crafting it since patchrelease, don't know if it's meant to be lower chance for monk items(Doubt that though)? I don't need the monk items myself, yet atleast. But could be a good income since alot of people are rerolling monks or leveling up one as alt.

I doubt there's any difficulty for monk items. I can make a lot of things for monks, druids, shamans, hunters... But for rogues(my LW's class) I only got two items. It is a really frustrating thing, really.

Just in case you didn't see it in the tooltip, Magnificence of Leather and Magnificence of Scales have a shared cooldown. I don't have Skinning as a profession, so I check the AH every day to see which will be cheaper for me to use.

So I've been making these for months and learning a new pattern every time.

Today I didn't learn anything. Does that mean I've learned every pattern this can teach me? Or are there rarer ones?

I assume that we have to learn them by creating the Hardened Magnificent Hide. A pretty waste of time and gold for players who started to level their leatherworker only now.

Don't mean to be a bit "ranty" but...

Is it me, or does the Haunting Spirit costs of the eight i522 pieces seem excessive? The amount of Magnificent Hide needed seems fine (maybe even low?) but the 6 or 8 Haunting Spirit per item feels too high. Even now, pre-Warlods expansion, the Haunting Spirits are still over 500g globally (according to the undermine journal).

I'm not sure about other players, but as a casual player (who only LFR's) I am stuck using the AH. Sorry, no piece of i522 gear is worth 3000-4000g - especially when I can get Shadow Pan Assault or other Valor Point gear much easier. Heck, even LFR raid drops and treasure bags will seem to give better chances.

tl;dr: Aw þøøþ... more gear I likely will never craft...

I cannot upvote this enough man got mine on my 2nd goat kill and there's alot of goats so if you still need to get your skinning up this is the place to go.

Got same result trying to use on in a regular raid

Dont know if any one else has seen this but if i do this on both my lwking toons back to back i get the exact same pattern for both toons, but if i space them out i get 2 totally different patterns.

BTW if you really wanna go tit for tat about farming vs buying; its just as easy to farm up 40 leather in a few minutes on the windward isle and you get raw tiger steaks as well; great if you have a toon that uses str or want some extra ah goods... so in reality farming it there would be more worthwhile imo, and im on a pvp server and havent had too much difficulty quickly farming it up and getting a good stack of meat for 40 leather. It's a win/win vs buying off ah and getting nothing extra; not even vendor trash.

You can easily bypass the one day cooldown of this craft by using 50 Mist-Touched Leather to pump out [spell=131865].

I would recommend buying 20 of the http://www.wowhead.com/item=72120 from the auction house if you don't already have the leathers gathered. By doing this you can either sell the http://www.wowhead.com/item=72163 or craft a rare quality item of it, this will result in some profit either way. Remember to check the auctionhouse before crafting your item, since you might get better profit if there are none of the same item on the auction house.

Blacksmiths don't get an equivalent since they're getting MoP versions of the TBC weapons.
