Expansion guides can answer different questions: how to progress a character, where a material originates, or how to complete an older collection. Start with the task. An expansion launch overview is not a current gearing plan, and a collection reference is not necessarily a leveling route.
Check the game version as well as the expansion name. Retail can revisit an older location while Classic follows a different progression. Match any item, recipe and quest links with the same version before combining advice from several pages.
Separate permanent content from seasonal rules
Locations and story connections can remain useful long after release, while rewards, dungeon pools and progression limits change. Look for a season or patch label whenever a guide recommends an activity because of its current rewards.
When two guides disagree, compare their dates and scope before choosing one. A correct description of an earlier season can still give the wrong next step for your character today. Follow the current in-game requirement and use older guides for the parts that still match.
Build a route through the relevant records
For an older collection, choose one region or instance for a first trip rather than pursuing every family at once. For current progression, choose a reachable next reward and check whether its requirements are already satisfied. Both approaches produce a clearer plan than treating the whole expansion as one unfinished checklist.
- Open the expansion or zone page to establish the location and game version.
- Follow the quest, faction or profession reference that supplies your target reward.
- Write down any access requirement before planning the rest of the trip.
- Save the individual target page so that a later update is easier to compare with your notes.

- Collection guides: plan a trip around a collection goal
- Midnight guides: check the current cluster’s patch and season labels
